  Job Description
 
HELP WANTED: City of Gwinner is looking for a City Maintenance Assistant. The individual in this job performs a wide variety of public services that include direct support to the Council and general support to the Auditor. Additionally, the incumbent provides professional assistance to city employees, committees, and to the general public.
 
-Normal operation hours are: Monday- Friday from 8-5pm and every other weekend, on call. 
-Will be provided with a city work truck and cell phone.
-Must have CDL or eligible to get one in 6 months.
-Must be able to pass water and wastewater certifications.
 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  1. High School Graduate
  2. Computer knowledge (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Email)
  3. Knowledge of sewer and water systems
  4. Equipment Operation and Maintenance

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  1. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

  1. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving requests for service.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  1. Current Sate Driver's License with a commercial license with air brakes
  2. Water Treatment Level 2
  3. Water Distribution Level 1
  4. Wastewater Collection Level 1
  5. Wastewater Treatment Level 1

 

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  1. Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance.
  2. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  3. Ability to manage and delegate responsibilities to subordinates during the workday.

Work is performed under the supervision of the City Superintendent/ Mayor and City Council.  This is accomplished through delegation of authority and expected compliance with established policies.  Highly unusual or complicated problems may be referred to the committee or mayor for further guidance or decision.   An incumbent is expected to rely on his/her experience, judgment and knowledge to resolve routine problems.

 

Performance is evaluated through observation, review of assigned work or projects, feedback from members, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
